Day two of the 2025 Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL) Final Eight resumes today (Tuesday) in Port Harcourt, with teams battling to secure semifinal spots after an entertaining opening day that delivered intensity, comebacks, and statement wins.
The tournament, which runs from October 26 to November 3, is taking place at the Basketball Stadium on Niger Street, Port Harcourt, marking the third consecutive year that Rivers State is hosting the final phase of Nigeria’s top basketball competition.
Day one produced thrilling contests across all fixtures. Lagos Legends opened the tournament with a hard-fought 73–68 win over Nigeria Customs, while Gboko City Chiefs showed resilience to come from behind and edge Kano Pillars 52–50 in a tense encounter.

Nile University also started on a high, securing a narrow 76–74 victory against Kwara Falcons in what was one of the most exciting games of the day.
Defending champions Rivers Hoopers underlined their dominance once again with a commanding 73–50 win over Hoops and Read, replicating their control from last season’s final between the two sides. The victory ensured the Kingsmen began their campaign on top of the standings as they chase a third consecutive league title.
After day one, Rivers Hoopers, Lagos Legends, Nile University, and Gboko City Chiefs occupy the top four spots, while Kwara Falcons, Kano Pillars, Nigeria Customs, and Hoops and Read sit fifth to eighth respectively.
Day two promises another round of exciting matchups, with Kwara Falcons set to face Lagos Legends in the opener, followed by Nigeria Customs against Gboko City Chiefs. Later in the day, Nile University will meet Hoops and Read, while Rivers Hoopers close out the evening with a blockbuster clash against Kano Pillars.
