Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Alebiosu has turned attention to the club’s relegation battle, insisting the team must maximise every remaining opportunity as they prepare for a decisive Championship meeting with Sheffield United.
With the season nearing its conclusion, Rovers find themselves in a tense position near the bottom of the table, making their midweek fixture one of the most important games of their campaign.
Alebiosu has been heavily involved throughout the season, featuring 37 times in the league while contributing one goal and four assists.
He also played a part in Blackburn’s most recent outing — a 1-1 draw against Coventry City — where his performance stood out despite the late setback.
The fullback recently returned from international duty with Nigeria, where he made his senior debut in a 3–1 victory over Uganda at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Rather than dwelling on style, Alebiosu stressed that results are now the only priority as Blackburn aim to secure their Championship status.
“Every point is so valuable, We need everything we can get to survive. It’s a good point even if we were so close to three,” he said.
He pointed to the squad’s unity as a major strength, highlighting how contributions from across the team could prove decisive in the final stretch.
“I think performances like that and we’ll be fine. The boys were together and the substitutes coming on made a difference. The whole togetherness from the start to the end. If we take that to the next two games, we will be fine, 100%.”
Blackburn’s inability to hold on against Coventry remains a concern, with Alebiosu admitting that small mistakes continue to cost the team valuable points.

“It’s frustrating to give away that goal in the last five minutes. It’s a point and we have a huge game now on Wednesday that we’re looking forward to. We played a good game, we got ourselves ahead. We knew it wouldn’t be easy and they wanted to come here to get promoted. It was a great performance, the last five minutes is just frustrating, it’s minor details,” he added.
With only two matches left, Blackburn sit just above the relegation zone and cannot afford further slip-ups. Their margin over Oxford United remains slim, increasing the pressure heading into the final fixtures.
“These last few games are big games for us. We have to win our battles. They dug deep and we’re raring to go,” Alebiosu concluded.
