…Ryan Alebiosu represented Super Eagles at AFCON 2025
Blackburn Rovers manager Michael O’Neill has singled out Nigerian defender Ryan Alebiosu for special praise following his impressive display in the club’s comeback victory over Millwall.
The Super Eagles right-back was one of Blackburn’s standout performers as the team battled back to secure a 2–1 win at The Den on Saturday. Alebiosu’s contribution proved decisive late in the contest when his well-timed assist set up the equaliser that sparked Blackburn’s turnaround.
Speaking after the match, O’Neill highlighted the 24-year-old’s influence on the right flank, particularly his movement and attacking involvement.
“I was pleased with the goals we scored and the movement on the side, particularly from Ryan [Alebiosu], who I thought was brilliant,” the Blackburn coach said.

Alebiosu’s assist came in the 80th minute when he created the chance for Danish defender Mathias Jørgensen to bring Blackburn level. Jørgensen then completed the comeback five minutes later with another goal that sealed all three points for the visitors.
Earlier in the match, Luke Cundle had given Millwall the lead with a spectacular overhead kick in the 54th minute before the home side were reduced to ten men after Zak Sturge received a red card five minutes later.

Blackburn capitalised on the advantage in the closing stages, with Alebiosu’s intelligent positioning and attacking runs playing a key role in creating the decisive moment that shifted the game in their favour.
The victory also ended a four-game winless streak for Blackburn and lifted them to 19th in the Championship table, three points clear of the relegation zone.
