Premier League side Chelsea will be aiming for victory when they welcome La Liga champions Barcelona to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday in a UEFA Champions League clash that promises excitement and drama.
Both clubs arrive locked on seven points after four matches, with Chelsea sitting 12th and Barcelona 11th in the standings. A win for either side could propel them into the competition’s top eight.
Enzo Maresca’s men have struggled with inconsistency this season, but have managed to go on a five game unbeaten run coming into this clash. Chelsea also received a boost ahead of the encounter as star midfielder Cole Palmer returned to training on Monday, though he remains a doubt for the matchday squad.

Barcelona, like their hosts, have had their share of inconsistent performances. Their last Champions league game ended in a 3-3 draw with Club Brugge, and they have struggled defensively, failing to keep a cleansheet in 10 consecutive games until last weekend’s 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.
The Catalans, however, travel to London lifted by the return of Marcus Rashford and Brazilian forward Raphinha, both pushing to regain starting roles.

Tuesday’s clash rekindles one of European football’s most dramatic rivalries. Barcelona knocked Chelsea out in the Round of 16 in 2018, while the Blues famously defeated the Spanish giants in the 2012 semifinals en route to winning their maiden Champions League title.
Across 14 Champions League meetings, both clubs share four wins apiece, with six matches ending in draws.
Elsewhere in Tuesday’s Champions League action, Ajax host Benfica, Galatasaray welcome Union St. Gilloise, Bodø/Glimt face Juventus, Dortmund meet Villarreal, Manchester City take on Bayer Leverkusen, Marseille host Newcastle, Slavia Prague battle Athletic Club, and Napoli face Qarabag.
