Saudi First Division side Al-Wehda have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka on a free transfer as they aim to improve their attack for the 2026/27 campaign.
The club confirmed the arrival of the 30-year-old in an official statement on Thursday, with Olayinka expected to immediately join his new teammates in training ahead of their league opener against Al-Adalah.
Olayinka arrives in Saudi Arabia after spending the second half of the 2025/26 season with Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia. He made 16 appearances across all competitions for the club, scoring three goals.
Before his move to Cyprus, the Nigerian enjoyed a successful spell with Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, where he registered 15 goals and seven assists in 65 appearances. He also helped the club win two Serbian SuperLiga titles and two Serbian Cup trophies.

Olayinka enjoyed the most productive period of his career at Slavia Prague, making 183 appearances across all competitions and contributing 50 goals and 16 assists.
His performances in the Czech Republic played a key role in Slavia Prague’s success, with the forward helping the club secure three consecutive Czech First League titles and three Czech Cup trophies.
Olayinka also has experience in several other European leagues, winning the Albanian league with KF Skënderbeu and featuring for Belgian Pro League side Zulte Waregem. He began his professional career in Ibadan before making his first move to Europe with Bylis.

At Al-Wehda, Olayinka will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo, who enjoyed a productive spell at the club. Ighalo made 68 appearances for Al-Wehda, scoring 23 goals and providing three assists.
Al-Wehda will be aiming to secure a return to the Saudi Pro League after suffering relegation at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. With Olayinka now leading their attacking options, the club will be hoping his experience and goalscoring record can help drive their promotion push in the new season.
