Phoenix Suns rookie Oso Ighodaro achieved a career-high 12 rebounds in the team’s 120-112 victory over the Utah Jazz. This win marked the Suns’ first since superstar power forward Kevin Durant was sidelined.
The Suns had started the season strong, with a 7-1 record and Durant excelling in scoring. However, Durant sustained a left calf strain during the Suns’ tight 114-113 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, sidelining him for at least two weeks.
In their first game without Durant, the Suns fell to the Sacramento Kings 127-118, but they rebounded against the Jazz, with Ighodaro making a major impact on defense.
He led the game with four offensive rebounds and eight defensive rebounds, totaling 12 for the game. Ighodaro also contributed six points and two blocks in 21 minutes off the bench. His teammate, Josh Okogie, recorded two points, two rebounds, and a steal in 12 minutes.
Reacting to his performance on the boards, Ighodaro said, “I was just going after the ball. Just trying to be aggressive on the offensive board. I try to stay ready every time in case my name gets called. I got called today, and I did my best.”
Devin Booker led the Suns with 31 points, while Bradley Beal added 24. Grayson Allen and Mason Plumlee each contributed 15 points, with Plumlee also pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds.
Ighodaro was a second-round 31st overall pick by the Suns in the 2025 NBA Draft.
