Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is reportedly being owed three months’ salary and bonuses by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to kick off later this month. BBC journalist Oluwashina Okeleji made the revelation.

Chelle, who was unveiled as Super Eagles coach in January 2026, is expected to lead the team to the AFCON tournament in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.

According to Okeleji, despite the outstanding payments, the Franco-Malian tactician has not lodged any formal complaint with the NFF regarding the situation.

“Chelle goes unpaid… Nigeria coach Eric Chelle is owed THREE MONTHS’ salary and bonuses ahead of the AFCON,” Okeleji wrote on X.

“The Malian, who led the Eagles to the 2026 World Cup playoff, has, however, yet to make an official complaint to his employers (the NFF) about the non-payment of his salary.”

The NFF has come under increased scrutiny in recent weeks due to allegations of mismanaging funds intended for football development. In November, Super Eagles players also boycotted a training session just days before their crucial 2026 World Cup playoff due to unpaid bonuses.
