CHAN Eagles captain Junior Nduka has expressed the team’s ambition to emulate the recent success of Nigeria’s women’s national teams, as they prepare to launch their campaign at the African Nations Championship (CHAN), Bold Sports reports.
Nduka pointed to the impressive achievements of the Super Falcons and D’Tigress in recent weeks as inspiration for the home-based Super Eagles squad.
The Super Falcons secured their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) crown last month, edging hosts Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final at Rabat’s Olympic Stadium.
Just a week later, D’Tigress added to Nigeria’s growing list of sporting triumphs by clinching a record fifth straight FIBA Afrobasket title, defeating Mali 78–64 in the final held at Côte d’Ivoire’s Palais des Sports de Treichville.

With momentum firmly in favour of Nigerian teams, the CHAN Eagles are now aiming to keep the winning streak alive in the ongoing continental tournament.
Drawn in Group D, Nigeria will face defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in the 19-team competition. Their first two group games — against Senegal and Sudan — will be staged at the Amman Stadium in Zanzibar, before a final group clash with Congo in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Nduka said: “Our female team has just won the WAFCON, and our women’s team just won the basketball title. It’s a good record for the country and we hope to consolidate on that.”
Nduka, who captained Remo Stars to a historic maiden NPFL title, will lead the national B team in their opener against Senegal tomorrow, hoping for a strong start to their CHAN campaign.
