AC Milan have officially decided not to proceed with the signing of Victor Boniface after concerns were raised during the striker’s medical examinations, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The deal, which had been agreed in principle with Bayer Leverkusen, was structured as a €5 million loan with an option to buy for €24 million. However, after spending 48 hours in Milan for assessments, the Nigerian international has now returned to Germany as the transfer collapses.

For Boniface, this is another frustrating setback after coming close to joining Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in January, only for the Saudi Pro League club to opt for Jhon Duran instead.

With the move off the table, AC Milan are already exploring alternative options. Talks remain active with Sporting Lisbon striker Conrad Harder, and sources suggest the Rossoneri could still push for his signing regardless of Boniface’s situation.

In addition, Rasmus Højlund has re-emerged as a potential target after his agent was spotted at the San Siro during Milan’s weekend clash against Cremonese, holding discussions with the club’s hierarchy.

The decision leaves Milan still searching for a reliable No. 9, with Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to newly-promoted Cremonese further exposing their struggles in front of goal. With time ticking down in the transfer window, the Rossoneri face a crucial few days to secure their new striker.

Meanwhile, Boniface will now return to Bayer Leverkusen, where he currently finds himself lower in the striker hierarchy. Patrik Schick remains the club’s first-choice striker under Erik ten Hag, while youngster Christian Kofane is also highly regarded internally and considered a key part of Leverkusen’s attacking plans.
