Inter Milan legend Giuseppe Bergomi has given his thoughts on how Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman would fit into the Nerazzurri squad, as the club continues to push for a deal to bring the Atalanta star to San Siro, Bold Sports reports.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bergomi expressed admiration for Lookman’s quality but warned that tactical adjustments would be required to accommodate him in the starting lineup.
“Thuram on the right, Lautaro up front and Lookman on the left. You can find a team in that,” Bergomi said. “I don’t dispute Lookman’s value. He has scored more than 50 goals in three years and is one of the best strikers in Serie A, but finding the balance is crucial.”

Bergomi believes Inter head coach Christian Chivu would need to rethink the midfield structure to make a front three of Marcus Thuram, Lautaro Martínez, and Lookman work effectively: “Nobody doubts it would be high quality,” he continued. “But if you play those three, you would have to change the set-up in midfield.”
The former Italy defender went on to suggest that Inter would need to bring in a high-energy midfielder to provide balance and cover. “(Morten) Frendrup would be perfect. He runs, covers, recovers. You need this type of player here.”
“In Genoa, in a two-man midfield, he’s covered the whole pitch for two seasons in a row,” Bergomi added. “This profile would be excellent here, a la Manu Kone for Roma, or Khéphren Thuram for Juventus. Physical players.”

Inter’s pursuit of Lookman continues behind the scenes. The club most recently submitted a €45 million offer for the Nigerian international, but Atalanta turned it down, sticking to their €50 million asking price.
Inter have already reached personal terms with Lookman, who is keen on the move, but Atalanta remain firm. With Inter president Giuseppe Marotta previously setting a July 31 deadline to reach a deal, the coming days could be decisive in determining whether the deal goes through.
