Brian Okonkwo has signed a new two-year contract with West Bromwich Albion, keeping him at the Championship club until the summer of 2028, Bold Sports reports.
West Brom confirmed the agreement in a club statement released on Thursday, rewarding the young goalkeeper after an impressive first season with the club’s development squad.
Brian Okonkwo, the younger brother of Super Eagles goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, joined the Baggies in September 2025 after leaving Arsenal. The 20-year-old quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for the club’s PL2 side.

The shot-stopper made 17 appearances in all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign. His performances helped West Brom’s U21 team reach the latter stages of the PL Cup.
The goalkeeper also impressed in the PL International Cup. His crucial saves kept Albion competitive against several top-quality international youth teams.
West Brom director and head of football Jonathan Beckett welcomed the new deal, describing it as another important step in the goalkeeper’s development.

“After a very positive first year at WBA, this is another great step in the right direction for Brian, who has signed a new two-year contract,” Beckett said.
“At 20 years old, Brian’s still a young goalkeeper with plenty of development ahead of him. We’re excited to continue supporting him through this next phase.”
Okonkwo will now look to continue his progress as he pushes for opportunities with the club’s senior side.
His international future also remains a topic of interest. His older brother Arthur switched his allegiance from England to Nigeria earlier this year and has already earned two caps for the Super Eagles, featuring at the 2026 Unity Cup. Whether Brian will follow the same path remains to be seen
