Brighton have completed the permanent signing of Super Eagles forward Femi Azeez from Championship side Millwall on a four-year contract.

The Premier League club confirmed the transfer in a statement released on their official website on Wednesday, revealing that both clubs submitted a deal sheet to complete the move after reaching an agreement on deadline day.

According to The Athletic football correspondent David Ornstein, Brighton agreed to pay an initial fee of £12.5 million for the 25-year-old, with the overall package potentially rising beyond £15 million.

Azeez joins Brighton after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign with Millwall, during which he scored 11 goals and provided seven assists. His performances earned him selections in both the PFA Championship Team of the Season and the EFL Championship Team of the Season.

Brighton sporting director Mike Cave welcomed the Nigerian’s arrival, praising his impact at Millwall.

“We are delighted to add Femi to the squad. He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role for them as they finished in the playoffs,” Cave said.

“He was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship. We’re delighted to have finally agreed his transfer, and we now look forward to working with him.”

Azeez made 77 appearances for Millwall following his arrival from Reading in 2024, scoring 15 goals and registering 13 assists.

His route to the Premier League has been far from straightforward. After coming through the youth system at Watford, Azeez played non-league football with Northwood before spells at Wealdstone and Hanwell Town. He joined Reading in 2019 before moving to Millwall five years later.

His impressive form at club level also earned him international recognition with Nigeria after he chose to represent the Super Eagles at senior level.

Azeez made an immediate impact on his international debut in June, scoring both goals in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe. He then provided an assist in the Super Eagles’ 3-0 win over Jamaica four days later as they lifted the 2026 Unity Cup.

His move to Brighton now gives him the opportunity to test himself at the highest level of English football.

Azeez will become the second Nigerian to join Brighton this summer, following the arrival of teenage winger Zadok Yohanna from Swedish club AIK. The 19-year-old has already made his Premier League debut for the Seagulls, featuring in Brighton’s 4-0 victory over Aston Villa.

With Azeez now joining him at the Amex Stadium, Brighton will have two Nigerian players looking to make their mark in the Premier League this season.
