Yira Sor will miss six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury for Amedspor. The Nigerian forward picked up the injury during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
Sor had already made an impact before leaving the game. The 26-year-old scored Amedspor’s equaliser before Gift Orban completed the comeback. Sor left the pitch after 50 minutes.
Sor’s Strong Start Cut Short
Sor scored his first Amedspor goal against Trabzonspor. He also featured in the club’s first two league matches. Amedspor began with a 3-0 win over Erzurumspor. Sor played in that victory before appearing against Kocaelispor.
Amedspor then lost 2-0 to Kocaelispor. Sor started another league game against Trabzonspor. His goal marked a positive response before injury ended his afternoon.
The winger joined Amedspor after leaving Belgian club Genk. He arrived ahead of his first Turkish top-flight campaign. The newly promoted side had expected his attacking ability to boost the squad.

MRI Reveals Extent of Injury
Amedspor confirmed Sor’s injury on Tuesday. The club announced the diagnosis after medical examinations.
An MRI scan revealed a Grade 2B muscle injury. The damage affects the left biceps femoris muscle. The muscle forms part of the hamstring.
The injury measures approximately 11 centimetres. Amedspor expects Sor’s treatment and rehabilitation to last around six weeks.
The club said its medical team would monitor the players’ treatment and rehabilitation.
Super Eagles Debut Delayed
Sor’s injury also affects his Nigeria plans. The forward made his Super Eagles debut earlier this year.
He played in Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly draw against Jordan. The latest setback now threatens his first competitive appearance for the national team.
Nigeria will face Madagascar on September 23. The Super Eagles will then meet Guinea-Bissau four days later.
Sor’s six-week recovery timeline rules him out of both fixtures. His competitive Super Eagles debut will therefore have to wait.
Amedspor’s Official Medical Statement
Amedspor released the following statement:
“MRI scans of Yira Sor revealed an approximately 11-centimeter-long muscle injury in his left biceps femoris (hamstring). Treatment and rehabilitation are expected to last approximately 6 weeks. MRI scans of David Bates showed mild edema and strain in his hip area. He is expected to begin training with the team after approximately 3 days of treatment. Umut Meraş has a mild strain in his left hamstring. He is expected to begin training with the team within 2-3 days after treatment and rest.”
Sor now faces a rehabilitation period of roughly six weeks. For Amedspor, his absence removes a player who had just scored his first league goal for the club.
