Blackburn Rovers coach Tony Mowbray expects Ryan Alebiosu to recover in time for Saturday’s Championship clash with Preston North End, Bold Sports reports.

‎The Nigeria international left Tuesday’s goalless draw against Lincoln City late in the game. Alebiosu started the match before Lucas Houghton replaced him in stoppage time. His late withdrawal raised concerns about his fitness.

‎Alebiosu has made five appearances across all competitions this season. He has also provided one assist. The fullback has continued the form that made him an important player for Blackburn Rovers.

‎The defender joined Blackburn last summer. He arrived from Belgian club Kortrijk after an impressive loan spell with St Mirren. Since then, he has established himself as an important option for the Rovers.

‎His availability could prove important at Deepdale. Blackburn face Preston North End in their next Championship fixture.

‎Mowbray played down fears surrounding the defender after the Lincoln City match. The Blackburn coach suggested that the physio department can help prepare Alebiosu for the weekend.

‎Speaking after the match, Mowbray told the Lancashire Telegraph:

‎“I would think Alebiosu will be OK. Whilst he’s a wonderful talent, he’s at times fragile.

‎“But I think the right words in his ear from the physio department will get him ready for the weekend, I’m pretty sure.”

‎The comments provide encouragement for Blackburn ahead of their weekend fixture. Alebiosu now has several days to recover before the trip to Deepdale.

‎Blackburn will want to build on their draw against Lincoln City. Mowbray will also hope his defensive options remain available.

‎Alebiosu’s potential return would strengthen those options. His pace and ability can provide Blackburn with another attacking outlet from the fullback position.

‎For now, the focus will remain on his recovery. Blackburn will assess his condition before Saturday’s match.

‎The latest update suggests there is optimism around his fitness. Alebiosu will aim to complete his recovery and return to action against Preston.
