Nigerian defender Gabriel Osho has officially completed a move to Championship side Cardiff City from Ligue 1 club AJ Auxerre, Bold Sports reports.
The Bluebirds confirmed the deal on Friday, revealing that the 27-year-old has signed a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee, pending international clearance.
Osho featured prominently for Auxerre during the 2024-25 campaign, starting 20 Ligue 1 matches and playing a key role in helping the team secure an 11th-place finish with 42 points, avoiding relegation. Prior to his move to France, he spent four seasons with Luton Town, where he was part of the squad that earned promotion to the Premier League in the 2022-23 season.

The defender made 21 Premier League appearances the following year, scoring twice, including his first top-flight goal in a home fixture against Arsenal.
Earlier in his stint at Kenilworth Road, Osho had a loan spell at Rochdale, where he worked under current Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy — a connection that has now reunited them in South Wales.
Osho began his professional career at Reading before featuring in the National League with Maidenhead United and Aldershot Town. He made his Championship debut in the 2018-19 season while also spending a loan spell at Yeovil Town.
Speaking to Cardiff City TV after completing the move, Osho expressed his delight: “I’m really happy, and really excited. It’s been a long time in the works, so to finally be here at the stadium and in the city has been good. I’m buzzing to get going.”

He also credited his previous working relationship with Barry-Murphy as a key factor in his decision: “Brian played a big part. It’s always important when the player has a good relationship with the manager. I had a really good time at Rochdale, and the connection I built with Brian and the staff there was pretty amazing. I think the relationship really was a contributing factor.”
Looking ahead, the Nigerian defender is eager to hit the ground running: “I’ve been watching the games so far, and the atmosphere is amazing. Hopefully I can feed off the team’s momentum, get going straight away, and just keep the wins and the clean sheets going.”
