Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze has expressed his excitement with completing his move to Fulham and joining Super Eagles teammates Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi at the club, Bold Sports reports.
The 26-year-old joined the Cottagers from AC Milan on a season-long loan with an option to buy and believes having familiar faces at Craven Cottage will make his transition easier.
Speaking in his first interview with FFCtv, Chukwueze said: “I’m so happy to be here because I have my friends around. It’s an amazing club. I have my people around me so it feels like home and I can’t wait to get started.”

The Nigerian international added that he is looking forward to linking up with his compatriots on the pitch: “I can’t wait to see them, I can’t wait to play with them in this great club. They’re fun to be with and they’re professional with what they do so having them around me is gonna help me a lot.”
Aside from Bassey and Iwobi, Chukwueze will also reunite with Spanish defender Jorge Cuenca, a former teammate at Villarreal, a favourable situation the winger believes will inspire him to give his best at Fulham.
“Knowing so many people in this club is gonna make me fully concentrate because I played with them and they’re strong, good and technically sound. Having them around will give me the motivation to do more.”
Chukwueze is also relishing the chance to compete in the Premier League, describing it as the ultimate stage for footballers: “For me I can’t wait to get started. The Premier League is everyone’s dream, every player wanna play in the Premier League, it’s one of the best leagues in the world. For now I’m just focusing on myself to try and get the rhythm and do what I know how to do best.”

Chukwueze’s debut for Fulham will have to wait as he prepares to join the Super Eagles for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
The winger stressed the importance of helping Nigeria secure vital points in both matches: “I’m focusing on that because we need the two games, Rwanda and South Africa. We have to win the two games to keep our World Cup hopes alive. For now, the most important thing is that I’ve secured this move so I’m gonna focus on getting the job done for Nigeria.”
Chukwueze also revealed that Fulham head coach Marco Silva played a key role in convincing him to make the switch from AC Milan: “He was the one that called me, showed me the tactics and mentioned how I’m gonna fit in his pattern. Him giving me that assurance convinced me to be here because he’s a nice coach and I think his style of play suits me very well.”
Looking ahead, the former Villarreal star is confident he can help Fulham compete at the top end of the Premier League: “I can’t wait to take Fulham where they are supposed to be. Get top four, make the Europa, go to any European competition, that’s the most important thing.”
