Nigeria’s Junior D’Tigress will face Hungary in the round of 16 at the ongoing 2025 FIBA U-19 Women’s World Cup, as they look to reach the quarterfinals in their debut campaign.
Nigeria finished third in Group B after a 79-61 loss to Portugal in their final group game, which set up a clash against the second-placed team in Group A for a spot in the last eight.
The Junior D’Tigress will be aiming to bounce back from back-to-back defeats against Canada and Portugal when they take on Hungary on Wednesday at the Starez Arena Vodova.

Hungary secured second place in Group A with two wins from three games, edging Israel 86-82 in their opener, falling 79-49 to defending champions United States, and closing the group stage with a commanding 81-45 win over South Korea.
Nigeria will need to be wary of Hungary’s explosive point guard, Eszter Ratkai, who has been in superb form.
She led her team with 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists against South Korea, and had an impressive 24 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in their opening victory over Israel.
