Werder Bremen may be preparing to see a different side of Felix Agu in the coming Bundesliga fixtures. The 26-year-old full-back has caught the eye in training, prompting manager Daniel Thioune to explore options for deploying him further up the pitch.‎‎

Agu’s week has been marked by eye-catching attacking contributions, including several goal-scoring chances and a composed finish that showcased his offensive capabilities. His versatility, Thioune explained, is at the heart of these tactical experiments.

‎‎“We’ve experimented a lot with Felix because I know how versatile he is and where he can bring quality to the team,” the Bremen coach said according to Deichstube, highlighting Agu’s ability to make an impact in multiple roles.

‎‎Agu’s speed remains a standout feature. Only Justin Njinmah has recorded faster sprints in the squad this season, a quality Thioune believes can be harnessed more aggressively during transitions. “That’s a skill that can help us in every phase of the game,” he noted.‎‎

With Olivier Deman firmly established on the left flank, Agu is unlikely to replace him directly. Instead, Thioune is considering alternative setups, including positioning Agu on the right wing or pushing him higher on the left to create a potent attacking partnership with Deman.‎‎

The Bremen boss cited a recent friendly against their U23 squad as an example of these possibilities. “We’re considering exactly that. He played on the left wing in the friendly because I believe it can work,” Thioune said.‎‎

Though the final decision will be kept under wraps until matchday, Thioune was clear on Agu’s significance. “If he’s fit and at 100 percent, then in my opinion he belongs on the pitch. Now we have to decide where we’ll put him, but we won’t know that until Saturday.”‎‎

As Bremen prepare for their Bundesliga showdown with RB Leipzig, Agu’s role could prove decisive in shaping the team’s attacking play.‎
