Favour Ofili of Nigeria pulled off a stunning victory in the women’s 100m at the New York Grand Prix on Saturday, defeating a stellar field that included Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica.

Ofili, just 21 years old, clocked a season-best 11.18s to take the win. America’s Morolake Akinosun was second in 11.20s, while her compatriot Aleia Hobbs took third in 11.21s.

Thompson-Herah, the Tokyo Olympics 100m and 200m gold medalist, could only manage 9th place in 11.48s as she continues to search for her best form this season.

Other notable Americans in the stacked field included Gabby Thomas (4th, 11.34), Mikiah Brisco (5th, 11.34), Celera Barnes (6th, 11.39), and Kennedy Blackmon (7th, 11.42). New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs rounded out the finishers in 8th with 11.45.
