Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, have progressed to the fourth and final round of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after claiming a 2-1 victory over Senegal in Saturday’s second-leg encounter.

The Falconets had earlier edged Senegal 1-0 in the first leg at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta last weekend. With the win away from home, they advance 3-1 on aggregate, taking a significant stride toward securing a place at the global tournament.

Nigeria opened the scoring against Senegal in the 19th minute, with Chinaza Kindness finding the net once again after also grabbing the lone goal in the first leg. The Falconets held on to their advantage until half-time, heading into the break with a commanding 2-0 lead on aggregate.

In the 69th minute, Moses Aduku’s team all but confirmed their spot in the next round when Precious Oscar netted Nigeria’s second goal of the match. Although Senegal pulled one back shortly after, it came too late to ignite a comeback, as the Falconets stayed composed to seal the win.

With qualification to the next stage secured, Nigeria will now take on Malawi in the fourth and final round in May, where they will battle for one of Africa’s four coveted spots at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

The 12th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Poland from September 5–27, 2026, marking the country’s first time as hosts. A total of 24 teams from six confederations will compete for the title.
