Sporting Lagos strengthened their grip at the top of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Group B table with a commanding 3–1 victory over Solution FC at the Awka City Stadium.

Aliyu Baba opened the scoring in the 45th minute, netting his first goal of the season to give Sporting Lagos a deserved lead. He doubled the advantage just six minutes into the second half, completing his brace and putting the visitors firmly in control.

Seun Akanji added a third in the 55th minute to make it 3–0, capping a dominant display from the Lagos side. Although Sporting Lagos controlled much of the game, they were unable to further extend their lead, ultimately settling for three goals and maximum points on the road.

The result takes Sporting to 20 points from nine matches, with a record of six wins, two draws, and one defeat, opening up a five-point gap over second-placed Akwa United, who have two games in hand.

Akwa United sit on 15 points from seven matches and will aim to close the gap when they face Rovers FC of Calabar in Uyo on Sunday.

Sporting Lagos’ primary objective this season remains finishing top of the group to secure automatic promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League, the country’s top-flight club competition.
