Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo will be hoping to cap off a remarkable 2025 with a third major trophy as she looks to guide AFC Toronto to victory in the inaugural Northern Super League (NSL) final against Vancouver Rise on November 15 at BMO Field.
Okoronkwo has enjoyed a standout year, playing a key role in the Super Falcons’ historic triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in August, before helping AFC Toronto clinch the league’s first-ever NSL Shield in September.
She continued her brilliant form in the playoffs, scoring a sensational hat-trick in the second leg of their 4-1 win over Montreal Roses, sealing a commanding 6-1 aggregate victory and booking Toronto’s place in the final.

A win today would secure her third trophy of the year, underscoring a truly exceptional season.
AFC Toronto have been the dominant force in the NSL, finishing top of the regular season with 16 wins, five more than their closest challengers, entering the playoffs as clear favourites.
Vancouver Rise, meanwhile, enjoyed an impressive campaign of their own, finishing third with 10 wins before edging Ottawa Rapids 5–4 on penalties after a 3–3 aggregate draw in the semifinals.
On paper, AFC Toronto remains favourites to lift the inaugural title, but they will need their key players, especially the in-form Okoronkwo, to deliver once more, particularly in the challenging snowy conditions, as they aim to close out a historic first season in style.
