Equatorial Guinea and Sudan will be aiming to get their Group E campaigns up and running when they meet in their second fixture of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations. Both sides suffered defeats on Matchday One and arrive in Casablanca in search of their first points of the tournament.
The match will be played at the Stade Mohamed V, with kick-off scheduled for 4pm and comes at a crucial stage for two teams keen to avoid early elimination pressure.
This will be the first time Equatorial Guinea and Sudan face each other at the AFCON finals, adding a sense of novelty to the encounter. Their only previous meetings came during qualification for the 2019 tournament, when Equatorial Guinea emerged on top in both legs.
The first of those meetings took place on 8 September 2018 in Bata, where Equatorial Guinea secured a narrow 1–0 home win thanks to a 30th-minute strike from Emilio Nsue. The return fixture, played in Sudan on 22 March 2019, proved more decisive as Equatorial Guinea claimed a 4–1 away victory.

On that occasion, Sudan took an early lead through Saif Tere in the 15th minute, but Nsue turned the match around with two penalties, before Pablo Ganet and Pedro Obiang added further goals to seal the win.
Despite those results, neither side went on to qualify for the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt, with Senegal and Madagascar finishing ahead of them in the group. This time, with both teams already under pressure in Group E, the meeting in Casablanca offers a vital opportunity to revive their AFCON 2025 hopes.
