Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa and defender Shehu Abdullahi are poised for a possible return to the Nigeria Premier Football League as they were spotted training with four-time league champions, Kano Pillars.
While the club has yet to make an official statement, the potential signings of both players could be in progress as Pillars aim to bolster their squad for a stronger performance this season.
The club shared training pictures and videos of the Super Eagles players in a post on X (formerly Twitter), hinting that they might be available for the matchday 5 fixture against Sunshine Stars this weekend.

“Ahmed Musa, Shehu Abdullahi, Nazir Laja, and the rest of the squad trained ahead of NPFL 2024/25 Matchday 5 clash against Sunshine Stars this weekend.
“A glimpse into yesterday’s intense training session as we gear up for our crucial Nigeria Premier Football League 2024/25 Match Day 5 encounter against Sunshine Stars,” the club posted.
Musa had a brief spell with Kano Pillars in 2021, featuring in eight league games before returning to Europe to join Turkish Super Lig club Fatih Karagumruk. He later moved to Sivasspor, where he played until his contract was terminated in February 2024.
The former Leicester City and CSKA Moscow winger recently expressed his interest in returning to the NPFL on X (formerly Twitter), asking fans for advice on which team to join.
Similarly, Shehu Abdullahi, who last played for Sofia Levski in the Bulgarian league, could also be set to join Pillars on a temporary basis. Both players may use this opportunity to regain form ahead of the January transfer window in Europe.
Musa and Abdullahi are no strangers to Kano Pillars, having represented the club earlier in their careers. Musa played for Pillars between 2009 and 2010, scoring 18 goals in 25 games, while Abdullahi donned the Pillars jersey from 2012 to 2014.
