Nigeria’s D’Tigress have stormed into the semifinals of the ongoing FIBA Women’s Afrobasket 2025 with a dominant 83–47 victory over Cameroon in their quarterfinal clash at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, Abidjan.
The reigning champions will now face familiar foes, Senegal, in what promises to be a blockbuster semifinal encounter. Senegal booked their spot after edging hosts Ivory Coast 66–60 in a tightly contested quarterfinal.
Coming off a tough final group game against Mozambique, Nigeria looked refreshed, benefiting from over 24 hours of rest compared to their opponents, and wasted no time asserting control from tip-off.

D’Tigress opened the game with intensity, racing to a 21–9 first-quarter lead. However, Cameroon regrouped and held their own in the second quarter, which ended 20–20, keeping Nigeria’s halftime advantage to just 11 points.
After the break, Nigeria returned with renewed energy and ruthlessly took the game away from the Central Africans. They limited Cameroon to just two points in a sensational third-quarter display while pouring in 25 points of their own.
Although Cameroon showed more fight in the final quarter, D’Tigress maintained their dominance and closed out the game with a 17–16 edge, capped by a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Serah Ogoke.

Amy Okonkwo led the charge for D’Tigress with a game-high 18 points as Nigeria secured their third win of the tournament. Nicole Enabosi and Victoria Macaulay contributed 12 points apiece, while Elizabeth Balogun chipped in with 11 points in the commanding victory.
For Cameroon, Jessica Thomas recorded 11 points, a game-high eight rebounds, and four assists, while Dulcy Fankam added 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the defeat.
The D’Tigress will face Senegal in the semifinals on Saturday, with both teams knowing that a win would take them closer to booking a ticket to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
