Nigeria’s D’Tigress will face either Angola or Cameroon in the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIBA Women’s Afrobasket 2025 on Thursday.
The defending champions earned a well-deserved rest day after advancing directly to the last eight by topping Group D, following commanding wins over Rwanda in their opener and a tough Mozambique side on Monday.
Their next opponent will be determined on Wednesday when Angola and Cameroon square off in a qualification game, with the winner booking a showdown against Nigeria in the quarterfinal.

D’Tigress are aiming for a historic fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket title, having dominated the tournament since 2017 and consistently outclassed the continent’s top teams.
Should they advance from the quarterfinals, Nigeria could face a thrilling semifinal matchup, potentially against tournament hosts Ivory Coast, if the Elephants get past Senegal or Rwanda in their own quarterfinal clash.
Statistically, Nigeria are currently the fourth-highest scoring team in the competition, averaging 66.5 points across their first two games. Senegal leads the scoring chart despite a group-stage loss, averaging 81 PPG, followed by Uganda (80.5 PPG) and hosts Ivory Coast (78.5 PPG).
