Cyriel Dessers’ first domestic league goal for Glasgow Rangers was enough to earn the hosts a narrow 1-0 win over Motherwell on Sunday at the Ibrox Stadium in a Scottish Premier League encounter.
The Nigeria international scored the only goal of the encounter in the 24th minute after he deflected Rabbi Matondo’s shot into the net. He was unlucky to get another goal but his effort was well saved by Motherwell’s keeper Liam Kelly.
Despite the win, the team was slammed for a below-par performance that saw players play several sloppy passes and were wasteful in front of goal.
Head coach Michael Beale said although he was not impressed with the performance of the team as it is below the standard of the club, he said he is delighted for the win and the clean-sheet.

“Horrible performance. I didn’t enjoy the game, and I don’t think the players enjoyed it either. We started poorly and had a couple of errors in the game. Our quality with the ball all day wasn’t good enough. There’s no hiding from that, it’s a win, it is another clean sheet and those are the only positives I could see from the game,” Beale told the club’s media team after the win.
Dessers made way for Ryan Jack in the 67th minute.
