Victor Boniface bagged a brace for Bayer Leverkusen in their 4-1 win over FC Heidenheim in the Bundesliga to keep the pace against leaders Bayern Munich.
The red-hot in-form Super Eagles player opened the scoring in the ninth minute. The 22-year-old picked up the ball at the edge of the box and, with his back to the goal, turned quickly past his defender before powering his shot past the goalkeeper.
Eren Dinkci against the run of play grabbed the equaliser for the visitors before Jonas Hofmann made it 2-1 in the 63rd minute for the hosts.

Boniface beat Kevin Muller from the penalty spot in the 74th minus for his brace while Amine Adli made it 4-1 in the 82nd minute. The Nigerian will have to wait another time to score his first hat trick for the Germans as he was substituted off for Adam Hlozek in the 84th minute.
The win is the fourth in five league games for Xabi Alonso’s men in the German league after their fantastic start to the season while also staying unbeaten, the only other team beat to taste defeat other than Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The brace takes Boniface’s tally of the season to eight goals and three assists in seven appearances across all competitions. Six of his eight goals have come in the league while the other two have been scored in the Europa League.
With six league goals, Boniface is currently the third top scorer in the German league with six goals from five games. Bayern’s Harry Kane is second on the log with seven goals while VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy currently leads the way with 10 goals.
