Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have pulled the plug on their proposed move for Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman after failing to reach an agreement with Atalanta, Bold Sports reports.
Despite completing the signing of Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on Monday, Bayern were still eager to bolster their attack with Lookman. Personal terms were never considered to be an issue, as the Nigerian international was open to making the switch to the German giants.
However, talks broke down after Atalanta refused to lower their €50 million valuation of the winger. Bayern had tabled a loan offer with an option to buy, but the Italian club insisted on a permanent deal or, at the very least, a loan with a mandatory purchase clause.

Lookman’s future is now uncertain, with time running out before the European transfer window closes. While a move to any of the top five leagues now appears highly unlikely, opportunities remain in countries like Turkey and Saudi Arabia, where the transfer windows remain open.
Turkish giants Galatasaray are closely monitoring developments and could submit a bid similar to the deal they offered last summer for another Nigerian star, Victor Osimhen, signing him on loan after a failed move to Chelsea.
It is still unclear whether Lookman would consider such an option, but it is evident that he does not want to feature for Atalanta again. This standoff means all parties may eventually need to compromise to find a solution before the end of the window.
