Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has backed his side to challenge for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, expressing confidence ahead of their quarter-final clash against Cameroon.

Regragui spoke firmly but cautiously as pressure grows on the Atlas Lions, who have faced criticism from sections of the home support over their style of play despite progressing to the last eight.

The Moroccan coach acknowledged the scale of the task ahead, with Cameroon’s pedigree at the Africa Cup of Nations making them one of the most dangerous opponents left in the tournament.

“We have the humility to believe that we can win this Cup of Nations,” Regragui said.

“Cameroon needs no introduction. We know it’s going to be tough again.”

Regragui stressed that respect for the Indomitable Lions would not weaken Morocco’s ambition, insisting his players remain focused on the bigger goal as the knockout stage intensifies.

A win in the quarter-final would send Morocco into the semi-finals, where they are set to face either Nigeria or Algeria, further underlining the difficulty of the path ahead as expectations rise across the country.
