Raphael Onyedika scored the decisive goal as Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Hamburger SV 3–1 on Sunday, getting the better of fellow Nigerian international Terem Moffi, who was also on target, Bold sports reports.

Onyedika struck two minutes after the restart at Deutsche Bank Park to restore Frankfurt’s advantage following Moffi’s first-half equaliser. Younes Ebnoutalib added the third in the 69th minute to secure the Bundesliga victory.

The result completed two wins over Hamburg in five days for Frankfurt, following their 3–1 away victory in the German Cup on Tuesday. Moffi scored in both meetings, but neither effort was enough to prevent defeat.

Frankfurt made the stronger start on Sunday, threatening through Can Uzun and Ebnoutalib before taking the lead through Warmed Omari’s own goal in the 10th minute.

Hamburg responded quickly. Moffi finished in the 14th minute after Albert Grønbæk supplied him, bringing the visitors level just four minutes after they had fallen behind.

That response kept Hamburg in the contest, and the teams reached half-time at 1–1. The visitors had recovered from Frankfurt’s early pressure, but their work was undone almost immediately after the interval.

Onyedika reacted quickest when Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes pushed Lilian Brassier’s header back into a dangerous area following a corner. The Nigerian midfielder finished from close range to put Frankfurt back in front.

His intervention gave the hosts the breakthrough they needed, with Hamburg subsequently forced to chase the game again.

Moffi’s afternoon ended in the 63rd minute when Patson Daka replaced him. Six minutes later, Ebnoutalib punished a defensive mistake to extend Frankfurt’s lead and leave the visitors with a much tougher route back.

Jordan Torunarigha also started for Hamburg, lining up in their defence, while Onyedika remained on the pitch throughout Frankfurt’s victory.

Hamburg created further opportunities late on, but goalkeeper Noah Atubolu and the woodwork helped preserve the home side’s advantage.

For Moffi, another goal brought little consolation after successive defeats against the same opponents. Onyedika, meanwhile, finished the encounter with both a goal and three points.

Hamburg’s next league assignment is a home meeting with Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday.
