Victor Osimhen scored a brace to inspire Galatasaray to an impressive 2-1 victory over rivals Fenerbahçe in the Intercontinental Derby at RAMS Park on Monday.
The Super Eagles striker netted twice in the first half of the Super Lig encounter to take his tally for the season to nine goals and three assists in nine matches across all competitions, helping his side secure their third consecutive victory.
Both sides started the match in search of the opening goal, but Fenerbahçe came close to taking the lead when N’Golo Kanté’s low cross was diverted onto the woodwork by Davinson Sánchez as the defender attempted to clear the ball.
In the 29th minute, Osimhen produced a moment of brilliance to break the deadlock. The striker received a pass from Barış Alper Yılmaz and controlled the ball neatly with his right foot before firing a stunning left-footed shot into the bottom-right corner to make it 1-0.

The 27-year-old came close to extending Galatasaray’s advantage in the 38th minute after receiving a through ball from Aleksey Batrakov. However, his effort was saved by goalkeeper Ederson, who got his fingertips to the ball to divert it behind for a corner.
Osimhen found the net again in the 44th minute to double the hosts’ lead. This time, the striker headed home Davinson Sánchez’s effort from outside the box, giving Galatasaray a comfortable 2-0 advantage heading into the break.
Galatasaray continued to push for more goals in the second half and almost added a third in the 55th minute when Rolland Sallai’s cross found Ismail Jakobs at the far post, but the full-back’s headed effort struck the woodwork.
Fenerbahçe pulled a goal back in the 62nd minute through a stunning bicycle kick from İrfan Kahveci to reduce the deficit to 2-1. The visitors pushed for an equaliser, but Galatasaray defended their advantage to secure all three points.
The result sees Galatasaray return to the top of the Turkish Süper Lig table with 22 points from nine matches, while Fenerbahçe sit fifth with 16 points following their third defeat of the season.
