Nigeria’s Future Eagles have drawn their first three matches at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, following an entertaining 3-3 draw against Gambia on Sunday.
The Nigerian youngsters previously played out a 3-3 draw against South Sudan on Saturday before sharing the spoils again in a 2-2 encounter with Jordan on Sunday morning.
The Future Eagles made a promising start to their campaign against South Sudan at the Hovsan Competition Complex, with Wisdom Boniface and Timothy Ijach getting on the scoresheet, while an own goal from Agustino Jafar added to Nigeria’s tally.
Nigeria continued their campaign against Jordan, with Ijach opening the scoring to register his second goal of the tournament. However, Jordan fought back with two goals to take the lead before Abdulrazak Mufutau restored parity to ensure both teams settled for a 2-2 draw.
The Future Eagles returned to action later on Sunday against Gambia, with Mufutau opening the scoring before Ijach doubled Nigeria’s advantage, making it 2-0.
However, Gambia mounted an impressive comeback, with Essa Jallow scoring twice and Sanna Sanneh also finding the net to give their side a 3-2 lead.
Nigeria refused to give up, as Ijach completed his brace to secure a 3-3 draw and take his tally to four goals in three matches.

The results leave Nigeria fourth in Group AD with three points from three matches. Cyprus lead the standings with seven points, ahead of South Sudan, who also have seven points. Gambia occupy third place with five points, while Jordan are fifth with one point. Pakistan sit bottom of the group without a point after losing their first three matches.
The Future Eagles will return to action on Monday when they face group leaders Cyprus by 8:30 AM before taking on Pakistan by 3:15 PM, with both matches presenting opportunities to secure their first victory of the tournament.
