…Eric Chelle monitoring Chukwueze’s situation ahead of AFCON 2027 qualifiers
Samuel Chukwueze is racing against time to be fit for AC Milan’s UEFA Europa League clash against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday after experiencing pain in his left hip.
According to reports in Italy, the Nigeria international is expected to undergo medical examinations in the coming hours to determine the extent of the problem and assess his availability for the encounter.
Chukwueze has been experiencing discomfort since Milan’s 3-2 victory over Atalanta at the weekend, during which he played for 53 minutes. The winger was subsequently absent from the team’s training session on Wednesday, raising concerns about his fitness ahead of the trip to England.

The 27-year-old had also been nursing an injury last week, missing some training sessions ahead of Milan’s Europa League encounter against RB Salzburg. He was an unused substitute as the Rossoneri secured a convincing 4-0 away victory.
The outcome of his medical tests will determine whether he can feature against Bournemouth or if further treatment will be required.
If Chukwueze is ruled out, he will join Alexis Saelemaekers and Matteo Gabbia on the sidelines, with both players also expected to miss the encounter through injury.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will be monitoring the situation closely, with Nigeria preparing for a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania early next month.
Chukwueze’s fitness will be a concern for the Nigerian coach as he assesses his options ahead of the crucial qualifiers.
