FIFA has appointed a normalisation committee to oversee the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) until May 31, 2027, at the latest.
The world football governing body announced the decision on Thursday following a meeting of the Bureau of the FIFA Council.
“Appointment of a normalisation committee for the Nigeria Football Federation until 31 May 2027 at the latest,” FIFA stated.
The decision follows the resignation of former NFF president Ibrahim Musa Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and members of the executive committee in August amid widespread criticism of the country’s football administration.

Their departure came after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and the Super Falcons missed the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
A joint FIFA and Confederation of African Football delegation subsequently visited Abuja to meet Nigerian football stakeholders and assess the leadership crisis.
FIFA has yet to announce the members of the normalisation committee or publish its detailed mandate.
Normalisation committees typically manage the daily affairs of a football association, address governance problems, review its statutes and organise elections for new leadership.
