Kelechi Iheanacho has bid an emotional farewell to Celtic after completing a free transfer to Turkish club Bursaspor ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Super Eagles forward left the Scottish champions after spending the 2025/26 campaign at Celtic, where he played a key role in the club’s domestic success, helping them win both the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish FA Cup.

Despite an impressive season, Celtic did not renew Iheanacho’s contract before it expired, paving the way for Bursaspor to secure the 29-year-old on a free transfer.

As he prepares for a new chapter in Turkey, Iheanacho took to his official Instagram account on Friday to thank everyone associated with the club for their support during his time in Glasgow.

“To the Celtic FC, what we achieved last season was truly incredible, I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity to represent your great football club,” Iheanacho wrote.

The Nigerian international reserved special praise for former manager Brendan Rodgers who brought him to the club, and current head coach Martin O’Neil who was keen to keep him at Celtic Park.

“My thanks to Brendan Rodgers for bringing me to the football club. Thank you to Martin O’Neil and his staff. Special thanks to my teammates, will miss you guys.”

Iheanacho concluded his message by expressing his appreciation to the Celtic supporters.

“To the amazing fans, thank you for the unwavering support. I wish you all the very best for the upcoming season and beyond! Love, Kelechi.”

Iheanacho made 24 appearances across all competitions for Celtic during the 2025/26 season, scoring nine goals and providing one assist.

The former Leicester City striker will now be aiming to build on that form as he begins a new challenge with Bursaspor in the Turkish first league.
