Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, veteran striker Asisat Oshoala, and first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie headline the 25-player Super Falcons squad named by head coach Justin Madugu for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, set to take place from July 26 to August 16.
Madugu has also included experienced campaigners such as Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Jennifer Echegini, Francisca Ordega and Chinwendu Ihezuo as Nigeria prepare to defend the continental crown.
There is a major boost for the Super Falcons with Esther Okoronkwo returning after recovering from the meniscus tear she suffered while playing for AFC Toronto. The forward regained fitness in time to earn a place in the squad after missing Nigeria’s recent friendly matches.

However, Ashleigh Plumptre has been left out after failing to recover in time from a foot injury that required surgery. The defender had recently revealed she expected to return soon, but she has not recovered sufficiently to make the final squad.
Nigeria, who are chasing a record-extending 11th WAFCON title, have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and tournament debutants Malawi. All of their group-stage matches will be played in Rabat.
The 2026 edition will feature 16 teams for the first time. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, while two other teams will advance to the intercontinental play-offs.
