Kelechi Iheanacho celebrated a dramatic Scottish Premiership triumph after Celtic F.C. recovered from behind to defeat Heart of Midlothian F.C. 3-1 and secure the league title on the final day of the 2025-26 season.
The title race reached its climax at Celtic Park, where Hearts stunned the home crowd when Lawrence Shankland headed them in front just before half-time. Celtic responded immediately through Arne Engels, who calmly converted from the penalty spot to level the contest before the break.
Iheanacho arrived into the fixture in strong form after making key contributions during Celtic’s powerful end-of-season run. The Nigerian striker scored from the bench in recent league victories against Dundee, Hibernian and Motherwell as the Hoops recorded seven straight wins to keep control of the title race. He also completed the season with eight goals in 23 appearances across all competitions.

With Celtic struggling to break Hearts down, manager Martin O’Neill reshuffled his attack at half-time by introducing Iheanacho for Sebastian Tounekti.

The former Manchester City F.C. and Leicester City F.C. forward instantly changed the tempo of the game. Iheanacho nearly produced a memorable title-winning moment after spinning brilliantly inside the box before smashing a powerful effort against the base of the post.
Celtic eventually found the breakthrough late in the match. Daizen Maeda fired the champions ahead in the 87th minute before Callum Osmand added a stoppage-time goal to seal the comeback victory and confirm Celtic’s 14th league title in the last 15 years.
Despite ending the campaign as a league champion, questions still remain over Iheanacho’s future at Celtic Park.
His current contract expires this summer, although Celtic retain an option to extend the deal for the 2026-27 season.
After an impactful finish to the campaign, the Nigerian forward will now hope his performances during the title run-in strengthen his case for a longer stay with the Scottish champions.
