Taiwo Awoniyi has been honored by Nottingham Forest after reaching 100 appearances for the club, receiving a special commemorative shirt to mark the milestone.

The Nigerian International, alongside Chris Wood, who also recently played his 100th game for the Tricky Trees, were celebrated by teammates and staff during Friday’s training session.

Taiwo Awoniyi achieved the feat against Chelsea, and marked it with a brilliant brace in a 3-1 win. He also won a penalty in the game, and was deservedly awarded the man of the match.

Few days later, Chris Wood came off the bench for his 100th Forest appearance against Newcastle. A late Elliot Anderson equaliser helped the team avoid defeat on that occasion, as they rescued a point in a 1-1 draw.

Speaking to his teammates after being presented with the shirt, Awoniyi said: “Thank you guys. This would not have been possible without you guys. For all you have done this season, for where we are, for keeping the team in the Premier League.”

Taiwo Awoniyi has enjoyed a far better campaign than last season. The striker has registered three goals and one assist in his last five matches, helping Nottingham Forest secure their Premier League status.

The club currently sit 16th in the Premier League with 43 points. This means they can still climb up the table if they win their remaining two matches against Manchester United and Bournemouth.
