Arsenal manager Renee Slegers singled out Chiamaka Nnadozie for praise after Brighton & Hove Albion Women held Arsenal Women to a 1-1 draw in the Women’s Super League on Wednesday night.

‎The Super Falcons goalkeeper impressed again with several key interventions at Broadfield Stadium as Brighton extended their unbeaten league run to five matches.

The result also marked the club’s longest stretch without defeat in the Women’s Super League since at least the 2011-12 season.

‎Nnadozie has remained one of Brighton’s standout performers this season. The Nigerian international once again delivered against elite opposition with crucial saves that frustrated Arsenal’s attacking line.

‎The draw also helped Manchester City Women secure the Women’s Super League title with one match left.

‎The former Paris FC goalkeeper denied Caitlin Foord with a fine fingertip stop before reacting quickly during a dangerous set-piece involving Lotte Wubben-Moy.

‎Brighton took the lead through Fuka Tsunoda shortly before halftime, while Frida Maanum equalised for Arsenal in the second half.

‎Despite Arsenal’s attacking options, Nnadozie remained calm throughout the contest and protected Brighton’s point with another commanding display.

Speaking after the match, Slegers admitted Arsenal found it difficult to exploit spaces behind Brighton’s defence because of Nnadozie’s positioning and decision-making.

‎She told the BBC: “Brighton always come out very convinced and with a lot of intensity. It is also about the decisions we make on the pitch. It is finding the balance and building partnerships over the pitch across the season so you can make changes and it doesn’t effect the team.

‎“There were opportunities in behind but also Nnadozie did well defending that space, so you need a lot of detail and quality in execution.”

‎Brighton manager Dario Vidosic also praised his side after the draw against Arsenal.

‎He said: “In the first half, I was really proud of the girls. They were terrific. In the second half we knew they could inject a lot of quality, but we could too and in the end it was a good draw for both teams.”

‎Vidosic added: “We played some really good football, controlled the game and looked the better team.”

‎Nnadozie’s commanding display again underlined her growing importance for Brighton ahead of another crucial test in the FA Cup.

‎Brighton now prepare for Sunday’s FA Cup semifinal clash against Liverpool Women.
