Frank Onyeka’s Coventry City have secured promotion to the Premier League following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers on Friday night, Bold Sports reports.
The Super Eagles midfielder featured for 62 minutes as Coventry battled back to earn the crucial point that confirmed their return to the top flight, with three matches still left in their Championship campaign.
After a goalless first half, Blackburn Rovers took the lead in the 54th minute as Ryoya Morishita scored to give the hosts the lead. Determined to turn the game around, Coventry head coach Frank Lampard made a couple of changes.
The changes paid off as one of the substitutes Victor Torp provided a brilliant cross which was headed in by defender Bobby Thomas in the 86th minute, leveling the scoreline.

Blackburn pressed for a winner in the closing stages, but Coventry held firm to secure the draw that sealed their long-awaited promotion, marking their return to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years.
Onyeka, who joined Coventry on loan from Brentford in January, is now set to be among the Nigerian players featuring in the Premier League next season.
