Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has narrowly missed out on the February Goal of the Month award at Fulham FC, after his strike against Sunderland AFC finished second in the club’s fan vote.
The award was confirmed on Tuesday, with Fulham announcing that the Brazilian midfielder Kevin secured the honour for his long-range effort in a match against Manchester United.
Iwobi had been nominated following his decisive goal during Fulham’s 3–1 victory over Sunderland on 22 February in the Premier League.
The Nigerian midfielder produced a composed finish in the 85th minute, effectively sealing the victory after Sunderland had begun to apply late pressure in search of a comeback.

The goal came during a swift counter-attacking move. With the visitors committing players forward, Fulham broke quickly through Harry Wilson, who carried the ball upfield before delivering a precisely weighted pass into Iwobi’s path. The midfielder then calmly lifted his finish past the goalkeeper to put the result beyond doubt.
Despite strong support from supporters, Iwobi’s effort finished second in the final vote.
Pereira claimed the award with 63.3% of the votes, while Iwobi received 18.6%, placing him ahead of Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez, whose goal earned 10.2% of the vote.
Several other players were also nominated for the monthly award, including young forward Jonah Kusi-Asare, midfielder Harrison Reed, as well as Anna Grey and Macauley Zepa.

Iwobi has been a regular presence in Fulham’s squad during the current Premier League campaign. Across 23 league appearances, he has contributed seven goal involvements, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
The 29-year-old has started every league match for which he has been available, highlighting his importance in Fulham’s midfield setup this season.
However, he was absent for six consecutive matches earlier in the campaign while representing the Nigeria national football team at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025.
Since joining Fulham, Iwobi has established himself as a key creative outlet in midfield, combining technical ability with attacking intelligence.

His counter-attacking goal against Sunderland reflected the type of decisive contribution that has made him a consistent performer for the London club this season.
While the February Goal of the Month award ultimately went elsewhere, the Nigerian international’s strike remains one of the standout moments in Fulham’s recent run of Premier League fixtures.
