The quarter-final line-up for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has been confirmed after an entertaining group stage in Morocco, with eight nations now just three wins away from lifting Africa’s biggest women’s football prize.
The knockout matches will take place on August 8 and 9 in Rabat and Casablanca, while the four winners will also secure automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil
How the quarter-finalists reached the last eight
Hosts Morocco finished top of Group A after an unbeaten campaign, while Algeria claimed second place. Côte d’Ivoire won Group B ahead of South Africa following a strong defensive display throughout the group phase.
In Group C, Malawi produced one of the tournament’s biggest surprises by finishing first after victories over Nigeria and Egypt. Defending champions Nigeria recovered from their opening defeat by beating Zambia and thrashing Egypt 6-2 to secure second place.
Group D ended with Cameroon topping the standings, while Ghana booked the remaining qualification spot after holding Mali to a draw in their final group match.
