‎FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli has revealed that Nigerian striker Terem Moffi is getting closer to earning a starting spot as the team prepares to face Rio Ave FC on Sunday.‎‎

Moffi, who arrived at Porto on loan from OGC Nice, made his debut last weekend against C.D. Nacional. The Nigerian international played the final sixteen minutes of the match, helping Porto secure a vital win and maintain their position at the top of the league standings.‎‎

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Farioli highlighted Moffi’s return to optimal fitness and his determination to regain full match sharpness.

“These past few weeks have been good for improvement; he’s working hard. I’ve already said that in terms of weight and body composition, he’s back to where he should be. He’s close,” the coach said.‎‎

While acknowledging that forward Deniz Gul currently leads the pecking order, Farioli stressed that Moffi is nearing readiness to start matches.

“When could he be a starter? Soon. We have Deniz at the moment, who is a step ahead. In the coming weeks, we’ll need both of them to help us maintain a very high level,” he added.‎‎

Farioli also expressed appreciation for Porto’s preparation in January, which anticipated potential worst-case scenarios.

“I thank the club for preparing us in January for the worst-case scenario, which unfortunately happened. We’re in a situation that isn’t ideal, but we have two very good forwards. They will both play a key role,” he said.

‎‎At Porto, Moffi will now focus on earning regular playing time, rediscovering his best form, and delivering strong performances as he aims to end the season positively and secure his place ahead of the summer.‎
