Valencia have completed the permanent signing of Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar from Real Sociedad, sealing a deal that will keep the Nigerian forward at Mestalla until June 2028, Bold Sports reports.
The club confirmed the transfer on Thursday, announcing that the 28-year-old has returned to Valencia following a successful loan spell in the second half of last season.
“Valencia CF has reached an agreement with Real Sociedad for the signing of Sadiq Umar. The Nigerian international striker (Kaduna, 02/02/1997) returns to the Mestalla Camp with a contractual link until June 2028,” the club said in a statement.
Sadiq’s return comes as little surprise after the impact he made during his short stay with Carlos Corberán’s side. The powerful forward quickly established himself as a key figure, scoring six goals in 19 appearances across all competitions and playing a central role in Valencia’s attacking play.
Known for his physical presence, aerial strength and intelligent movement, Sadiq gave Valencia a direct attacking outlet while also contributing effectively in combination play. His influence was not limited to goals alone, as his work rate and personality endeared him to the Mestalla faithful. One of the standout moments of his loan spell came in March, when his audacious backheel finish against CA Osasuna earned him the LALIGA EA SPORTS Best Goal of the Month award.

The permanent signing represents a vote of confidence from Valencia in a player who has already demonstrated his suitability to the club’s style and demands. With extensive experience across European football and at international level with Nigeria, Sadiq brings maturity and proven quality to Corberán’s squad.
Sadiq is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately and begin training straight away, with the striker likely to be included in the squad for Valencia’s league clash against Elche on Saturday as he looks to make an instant impact once again.
