Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored his sixth league goal of the season to help Galatasaray secure a 4-1 victory over Antalyaspor in their Super Lig clash on Saturday, Bold Sports reports.

The champions came into the match looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Monaco in the Champions League. Determined to return to winning ways, they wasted no time in asserting their dominance, getting an early lead in the seventh minute through Leroy Sané’s goal.

Four minutes later, the visitors extended their lead as Baris Asper Yilmaz found Roland Sallai on the edge of the box before the fullback hit a low shot into the bottom corner, making the scoreline 2-0.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts in the 56th minute of the game as a swift counterattack was finished off by Osimhen, all but securing all three points for Galatasaray.

Antalyaspor got a goal back in the 69th minute through Sander van de Streek, but Mauro Icardi sealed the win for the Turkish champions with a strike in the final minutes of the game, condemning the hosts to their ninth loss of the campaign, leaving them 15th on the table.

Galatasaray, on the other hand, move up to 39 points and extend their gap over second-placed Trabzonspor to five points. The league leaders’ next game comes up against Başakşehir in the Turkish Cup on Thursday.

Galatasaray will however be without Osimhen as the striker will join up with the Super Eagles with preparations set to begin for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. The 26-year-old has now scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, and he will be aiming to take his impressive form into the continental tournament.
