After their opening-day loss to hosts Tunisia in the 2027 FIBA World Cup Window 1 qualifiers on Thursday, Nigeria’s D’Tigers will be aiming to bounce back when they face Guinea at Salle Omnisports de Rades.

D’Tigers pushed Tunisia to overtime, but the hosts stepped up in the extra period, draining three three-pointers and outscoring Nigeria 15-5 to seal an 88-78 victory.

Guinea, meanwhile, were dominant in their opener, defeating Rwanda 82-70 in regulation time to launch their qualifying campaign in style. They will now look to maintain that momentum against the Nigerians.

Nigeria are expected to be sharper this time, having finally had an extra day to train together – a luxury they lacked before the Tunisia clash after arriving in Radès less than 48 hours before tipoff. Their lack of cohesion was evident as they committed 25 turnovers, which Tunisia punished for 27 points.

Recent meetings favour D’Tigers, who have beaten Guinea in their last two encounters, both during the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

Heading into today’s game, Nigeria will have to keep a close eye on Guinea’s backcourt duo of Shannon Evans and Souleymane Boum Jr., who scored 25 and 18 points, respectively, in their opening-day win.
