Nigeria and the D’Tigress risk losing highly rated WNBA star Kiki Iriafen after she was named in Team USA’s 18-player roster for the USA Basketball Women’s National Team training camp, scheduled for December 12–14 at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Iriafen is one of ten newcomers invited to the camp, alongside Lauren Betts, Cameron Brink, Paige Bueckers, Veronica Burton, Sonia Citron, Caitlin Clark, Rickea Jackson, Angel Reese, and JuJu Watkins, all attending their first senior national team camp.

The Nigeria Basketball Federation has monitored the 22-year-old closely since her college days at Stanford University (2021–2024) and the University of Southern California (2024–25) before her move to the WNBA.

Iriafen was selected fourth overall in the first round of the WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics and quickly established herself as one of the league’s standout rookies. She earned a place on the 2025 WNBA All-Rookie First Team, alongside teammate Sonia Citron, who is also included in Team USA’s 18-player roster.

The training camp marks the beginning of Team USA’s preparations for next year’s FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany.

USA Women’s National Team managing director Sue Bird will assess all participating players before selecting the final team for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, scheduled for September 4–13 in Berlin, where Team USA will look to secure a fifth consecutive world title.
