Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has until December 11 to submit his final 23-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to kick off on December 21, with hosts Morocco facing Comoros in the opening match. However, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has instructed all participating nations to submit their final 23-man squads 10 days before the tournament begins.

All 24 participating countries were given a November 21 deadline to submit a 55-man provisional list, from which the final squad will be selected. Although CAF now permits teams to name up to 27 players in their final squad, the federation will only provide logistics and accommodation for 23 players.

The Nigeria Football Federation, via its official social media platforms, announced that the Super Eagles’ preliminary list will be released soon, with players on the brink of selection urged to elevate their performance to secure a place in the final squad.

Some nations, including South Africa, have already unveiled their provisional lists. Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos named a 54-man squad, featuring just 12 foreign-based players.

The Super Eagles will be aiming to win their fourth AFCON title when the tournament kicks off in Morocco. To keep that dream alive, they must first navigate Group C, where they will face Tanzania, Uganda, and Tunisia.
