…Tolu Arokodare yet to score in 8 Premier League games
Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare remains optimistic that things will turn around at Wolves despite their poor start to the 2025/26 season.
Wolves dismissed Vitor Pereira following a string of disappointing results and appointed Rob Edwards as his replacement. However, the former Wales international suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday. Yet to record a win, Wolves are currently at the bottom of the table and are the only team without a victory in 12 games this season, losing 10 and drawing two.
Their summer signings have also struggled to make an impact, with striker Arokodare yet to find the back of the net in eight Premier League appearances since joining from Belgian side Genk on transfer deadline day for £23.4 million.
He was handed his first start in six games by Rob Edwards but failed to score in his 66 minutes on the pitch. Despite the challenging start, Arokodare remains confident that things will soon improve, as the team shares a strong belief in themselves.

“I wouldn’t say there’s nervousness. I don’t think we’re nervous; if anything, we’re very confident. We’re confident the results will come our way very soon,” Arokodare said after Saturday’s loss, their 10th of the season.
“We try to play our football, we try to get the goals, and the results are just not coming. The two goals we conceded were very unlucky, and that’s how it’s been for us most of the season.”
The 25-year-old is also confident that the team can avoid relegation, emphasizing the importance of staying positive and working hard.
“I don’t think there’s an amount – every little bit of confidence matters. I don’t think there has to be a certain amount.

“We just have to stay confident, stay positive, and keep working, and hopefully we get the results.”
Speaking on new manager, Arokodare highlighted the Welshman’s ability to instill confidence in the squad, both through his communication with players and his willingness to go the extra mile alongside the team.
“Since he came in, he’s spoken with not just the players, but almost everybody at the club. He’s given us that confidence and he’s shown us what he wants from us, how he wants to play, and the belief he has in us.
“He’s let us know that he’s going to be there for us, he’s going to fight for us, and we just have to reward him and reward the fans who have stuck with us from the start of the season to now, and also reward ourselves for the hard work that we’ve put in since the start of the season and try to get a win.”
Speaking on the loss to Crystal Palace, Arokodare says no one could be blamed as they all did their best in the encounter but were unlucky.

“We showed a lot of energy, a lot of fighting spirit, and that’s what we focused on from the start of the week. The training were very intensive, and we had good spirits, and we came to this game with good spirits.
“I don’t think it really went wrong anywhere until the goal. You cannot say it was bad defending or anything; we were just unlucky with the deflection. But luckily for them, they had a player to put it in the back of the net.
“But I thought we did pretty good the whole game, from the start to the end. Even after going two goals down, we still tried to play our football, but we didn’t get the result.”
